Meeting Booster from the MindView Stable

Something new (to me at least) is an online, Cloud-based meeting manager system - Meeting Booster.  The promotional material describes the product as "a meeting management system that provides a secure and efficient method for scheduling, executing and archiving meetings".

The product offers meeting and agenda planning, scheduling, minute taking and circulation, together with "comprehensive meeting analytics".

Notes can be taken and actions and tasks assigned.  The record minutes and actions can be used as the basis for follow up meetings and progress chasing.  Meeting Booster is fully integrated with MS Outlook.

For more details please visit the Meeting Booster web site.

I am very interested to hear from anyone with experience of this tool - please use the comments section below or get in touch directly.

Project Reports with MindGenius 5

One of the new features of MindGenius 5 is the Project Report.  It produce a very neat summary report.

Assume you've created a project schedule using a map to capture the work breakdown structure - it might look something like this:

Design Project1

Accessible from the 'Gantt' tab is a 'Project report' button.  You can click this either from the map view (above) or from the Gantt view:

MindGenius 5 Launched

Just out today is the latest version of MindGenius.  The application includes a number of new and revised features, together with an enhance look and feel.

Ove the next week or two, I’ll explore some of the new items individually – for now here is a simple taster.

First impression overall is that the new look adds to the sense of ‘quality’ of the product.  It looks better, seems more robust and feels faster to operate.  Some of the key features added or enhanced are listed below.

1. New look Map Styles and Start Mapping Pane which offers quick access to templates and help

new-1

2. Task Cards – more prominent branch information to aid reporting and task management

new-2

3. MS Outlook Synchronisation – maps automatically synchronize with Outlook when tasks are updated in either application

new-3

4. Resource levelling chart to help identify over and under allocation of project resources

new-4

5. Automatically create project quality project reports from map data

new-6

6. Comment and Review to encourage greater collaboration – share maps and track and review changes and comments

Custom Map Styles for MindView 5

One of the great features of MindView has been the no fuss approach to formatting maps.  Until now it has been as simple as selecting a map style from those built in to the software and getting on with the job.  This is great if you find a style you like however until MindView 5 it was neither possible to edit the styles nor to create your own.

All this has changed and MindView 5 includes a Custom Style designer function.  From the Design tab, you can now select 'Custom Style' and create New styles and Edit or Delete existing ones.

Once created the style is added to the drop down selector panel and can be applied easily to new or existing maps.

Using this new feature I've created my own styles and am working happily with them.

For a detailed walk through of this feature have a look at the video on the Matchware web site at http://www.matchware.com/en/products/mindview/upgrade_features.htm#custommaps
